Tumbling and Handstand Classes – Improve your floor skills and learn to stand on your hands!
Tumbling and Handstand is a structured class where students will work on their skills and strength to improve various ground skills, we will start from the basics such as forward rolls and cartwheels then evolve to things such as walkovers, round off, hand springs, flips, aerial cartwheels and walkovers and learn new connections (e.g. roundoff backhand spring, front handspring front tuck). In the handstand rotation we will also start with basics such as being able to kick into a handstand, headstands, forearm stand then after we are feeling stable we will move on to holding handstands on the wall for 20-40 seconds, as we are developing larger muscles we will shift onto the floor with no help from the wall maybe a partner then we will learn to hold a stable handstand by yourself for 10+ seconds, we will be doing multiple conditioning exercises to help feel stable and to be able to move your feet in the air (bend, flex/point your feet, make fluid movements) so that you look like you are dancing in the air, as we become stronger at that point we will start training press handstands and one handed handstands; being able to hold it on a wall, with the help of a chair, then the instructor will help you; after those steps you should be strong enough to attempt one handed handstands, we will always train both sides to prevent injuries. This class is a great way to become stronger, more fit and will improve your stamina miraculously if your looking forward to flipping in the air and aren’t afraid of trying new things come and join us! This class becomes very rowdy and we develop an amazing atmosphere between our students and trainers of hard work and joyfulness. We will start the class of with relay races or skipping, then followed by a small but effective conditioning routine, after that we will do a nice stretch to prevent any injuries and then we will divide everyone into 2 groups, handstand and tumbling. We will have 30minutes on each course and finish it all of with a group cool down.
This class runs for 90 minutes and students enroll in a 10 week block ( 1 Term).
